Colonial Service, I

have the honour to report that Mr. May has provisionally

and subject to Your Lordship's approval appointed Mr.

H. J. Watson, Clerk and Storekeeper in the Prison Department,

to the post of First Clerk in the Mercantile Marine

Office, Harbour Department, recently vacated by the retirement

of Mr. A. P. Guterres on pension.

Mr. Watson, who is reported to be

a diligent and capable Officer, joined the Police Force in

1885 and was transferred to the Prison Department in 1891.

The salary of the appointment is

$2,160 rising to $2,700 per annum, and as it falls under

the Grading Scheme it does not carry with it Exchange

Compensation. Mr. Watson has accordingly been given to

understand that in accepting the post he will lose his

alist 27/2/08
